Homeschool Ice Skating Lessons
We offer a full range of classes for Homeschool students. The homeschool program also enables more flexibility for families who wish to take semi-private lessons . Please contact our skating director for more information about special classes for homeschoolers.
- Preschool classes (ages 4-5): Snowplow Sam, levels 1-4
The “Snowplow Sam” levels are designed to help preschool-age (3-5 years old) children develop preliminary coordination and strength necessary to move on skates and to become comfortable on ice. Helmets are strongly recommended. - Youth classes (ages 6-12): Basic Skills, levels 1-6
The “Basic Skills” are the fundamentals of the sport. These six levels of the program introduce the fundamentals moves – forward skating, backward skating, stops, crossovers and turns. Upon completion of the Basic 1-6 levels, skaters will have the basic knowledge of the sport, enabling them to advance to the more specialized areas of skating – free skating, ice dancing, pairs, and synchronized. - Teen and adult classes (ages 13 and up): Teen and Adult, levels 1-6
The teen and adult classes teach the fundamentals of skating for a more mature skater (ages 13 and up). Forward skating, backward skating, crossovers, turns, and stops are introduced in 6 progressive levels. Upon completing the Adult 1-6 curriculum, skaters will be ready to advance to more specific disciplines of figure skating such as freeskating, ice dancing, pairs, theatrical skating, or synchronized skating. - Skating for hockey (ages 6 and up): Hockey, levels 1-4
Hockey 1-4 is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating to beginner skaters. Proper skating technique is the primary focus with an emphasis on speed and agility. (Ages 6 and up or successful completion of Snowplow Sam 1, 2, 3, and 4). - Advanced figure skating (must have passed Basic 6 or Adult 6): Pre-Freeskate, Freeskate 1-6 and specialty levels
These levels are for advanced skaters who have completed the at least the Basic 6 level or Adult 6 level (some classes require higher levels, listed below). Skaters will learn skills in four areas: Moves in the Field, Dance Sequences, Jumps, and Spins.
